Theism

My first blog on here

Ironically, theists live a life where they base all decisions on whether they will end up in heaven or in hell. What this kind of mentality does is that it destroys any kind of sense of individualism, pride in oneself, and it tends to lead us to a life where we are miserable because we are waiting for that final reward.

What’s wrong with this is that we forget how to live, and if we are going to end up in a wonderful place anyway, why should be give a shit about our life here on earth?

This type of mentality is flawed, both philosophically and realistically.

Here’s the thing...by living a life where you think you will be rewarded if you live a certain way, you start to loose focus on what’s important for people here on earth.  You are placing an afterlife before your life.  This leads us to not care about the earth, this leads us to make decisions that are incompatible with the survival of this earth.  People who think jesus is coming back within the next 50 years, don’t really care about the environmental crisis plaguing our world.  Why should they? They believe becasue they are the “true” xtians that they will go to heaven.

There is irony here though, because those xtians that don’t give a shit about anytyhing but themselves (which is in fact hypocritical of xtians), live a life where they use the word of god to enrich themselves.  Money seems to be just a step above god, or so it seems.  No matter how pious we call ourselves, we are still a greedy bunch.

Also, in every ideology, perhaps, there is an esoteric message that is not taught to the general masses of that ideology, that is in fact to keep them blind.  What is taught instead is an exoteric message.  In the case of religion the exoteric message is live your life according to the church, dontate (tax free) money to the church, vote the way the church wants and you’ll go to heaven.

The esoteric message is one of disbelief, one of the knowledge that there is no god and that people will do anything to get into heaven.  Do you really think Jerry Fallwell and Pat Robertson believe in God?  They are filthy rich and they don’t care.  They oppose sound enivornmental policies because they will die soo and they don’t give a shit, they are raping the wallets and the minds of their followers so that they can become rich.  If they were so interested in the wellbeing of their fellow man, they would give their riches to fighting aids, not diamond mining operations in africa.  They invest in doctrination centers, not homeless shelters.

The vatican, has its’ own army for crying out loud.  They have “secret” archives of ancient gospels.  Just recently the Gospel of Judas was discovered, who knows how many “gospels” are out there that completley destroy the very foundaiton of biblical history.  I’m sure the elitists theists know…

But of the layman, the one who works hard everyday, tries to live a normal life, a good life, gives money to the church, they are forgetting what life is about.  They are being fooled .  They are forgetting that life is about here on earth, not on some magical cloud like imaginary sanctuary.  Live life here on earth, make earth your paradise.  Let’s work together to try and save this earth for our children and their children.  This is not, a place to be raped by religion or profits.  And lets not make others miserable due to your idea of righteousness.

It is amazing to me that we are living in a world where we have to juxtapose science with theism.

We cannot just scratch on the surface without revealing the true problems with religion and how it is shaping global policies, war and spreading hate.

Most liberals are on a crusade against teaching ID in public schools.  I applaud that and I support that. However, that’s where they stop.  They stop at the fear of questioning the deeper implications regarding ID.  What has led ID to be developed in the first place?  People are afraid to challenge the very foundations of religious belief. This is where the problem starts.  It is not unconstitutional to criticize belief, it is part of our free speech.  If xtians can criticize islam, atheists can criticize xtianity AND islam AND judaism and so on and so forth.

We have to stop being “sensitive” to irrationlity.  There is no proof of god. Plain and simple. We argue that not only is there no proof of a god, but also, that religion is forcing people to become hateful and against one another.  WE are seeing religion being used to control political platforms, to undermine the environmental crisis, to force theocracy, to undermine science, to force policies unto people who do not share the same religious beliefs, that is not freedom my friends, that is anti-thetical to a free democracy.

The muslims are on a crusade, but we need to fight this crusade not with a counter crusade, but with secular, rational approaches.  Western Xtianity and it’s support for zionist jews is fuelling that HATRED between religions. Islam has now taken upon itself to see teh threat of judaism and wester theocracy being shoved down their holy land, this, people, pisses them off.  There is no way we can win a war in the middle east when we have millions of dollars from churches (xtian churches) being poured in Israel. The muslims see this as the beginning of the spread of xtianity and judaism on their lands.  We claim so much that we are spreading democracy, but they see what a western style democracy is all about and they don’t want it. This really pisses them off.  So their irrationality is now being fuelled.  THis is a hypocrisy and a dangerous one.

And the sad thing is, the people who so piously claim to be moral xtians are the same ones who use war to profit.  Again, people there is an esoteric message that is not being disclosed.  And people don’t want to know it. Because thinking about it is too much trouble.

We would rather be sitting blind, with our commodities, our churches and wal marts, feeling comfortable, while millions of children starve, while wars are being waged in the name of god, while our church leaders are raping children, profiteering off of war, and not doing a godamn thing about the poverty problem in the world.

People wonder why I’ve become such an outspoken atheist...well it is because the irrationality of belief has started to affect me, personally. But also, because I believe in the fact that we have to learn to respect and cherish this earth, which is being slowly destroyed by our angry, greedy godly ways.  We have species of animals that are dying due to human activity.  We are not sheppards of this earth, we are viruses.  But that, I believe can change...but we cannot do that until we understand what life here on earth really is all about.  The fragile interconnection between all living things.  Humans are not at the center...and our intelligence has led to our misunderstanding of ourselves.  we need to change that.  We need to work together to ensure the prosperity of this earth, for future generations.
This earth is a jewel among the cosmos.  Life is a wonderful thing.  Let’s not demean it by the ridiculous idea that death is better than life if we live life miserably.

In Rationality,
Left of Larry
