They've been saying it's reminiscent of the days of "Master of Puppets."
I haven’t listened to Metallica since the “black” album. Most early Metallica fans have done the same thing. I’ve only heard about two songs since the “black days”
I am now listening to the new cd “Death Magnetic” online and I must say, this is some good shit. It has the old thrash feeling but with a new clean sound thanks to Rick Rubin (Slayer - Seasons 
).
The songs go the distance in length with plenty of great solos. I almost can’t believe my ears when listening to this. They are back baby, back!
The most interesting thing about this album is that i’m listening to it stream on their web site. Who would have guessed they are letting me listen to it while I work.

This is what I am hearing as well. But so far I have only heard one song off the new album. It was awesome. They’re playing in Jan. 09 in D.C. and now I reallly reallly wanna go. Anybody up for it?
