Do What? Southerners once again amaze me

The first thing I noticed when I moved to the bible belt was the term "do what".

Have you ever asked a Southerner where you were? Do they respond saying “Do What”?

How baffling is that? I never asked the guy to do anything. Why is he asking me this?

This is constant phrase the just makes absolutely no sense. If i wanted to ask you to do something, i’d say do your self a favor and hang yourself.

Every time I hear this phrase it bothers me to the point of banging my head against the wall. Do what, do what, fuck you!!

Ben Bailey said it best because I didn’t know anyone was aware of this redneck shit. I wish I could remember his comedic performance on this topic. I stood up and applauded this. Do what Ben?

I’ve recently moved from RVA to NYC.  The converse of “Do What” is the “What Happened” that occurs up here when people didn’t catch what you said.

Do what now?

Do what?  New York City?  Get a rope.  It’s called a regional dialect, by the way, and every place has one, even wherever it is you moved from.
